Used eqd grand orbiter v312/8/2023 ![]() ![]() ![]() Pedals will make extra noise if there is ripple or unclean power. We always recommend pedal-specific, transformer-isolated wall-wart power supplies or multiple isolated-output supplies. Our pedals take a standard 9 volt DC power supply with a 2.1mm negative center barrel. Vibrato is created by turning the resonance down low. Phase/Vibrato: Cuts the dry signal to create a vibe/vibrato effect depending on the setting of the other controls. Rate 1 is slow mode, rate 2 is LFO kill to use the Orbiter as a fixed resonant filter, rate 3 is fast mode. Rate 1,2,3: Changes the range of the speed control. More resonant clockwise, more subtle counter clockwise. Resonance: Controls the regeneration of the phased signal. Higher peak clockwise, lower peak counter clockwise. Sweep: Controls the frequency peak of the sweep. Faster clockwise, slower counter clockwise. In “Vibrato” mode, this acts as a volume control. Clockwise for more intense phasing, counterclockwise for less. Controlsĭepth: Controls the amount of phase effect mixed with dry signal. This pedal is 100% analog, true bypass and built by entirely by hand in beachy Akron, Ohio. ![]() When in “Vibrato” mode, the dry signal is removed and the Depth controls acts as a volume control. You can also use the Grand Orbiter as a true pitch vibrato with the “Phase/Vibrato” switch. The Resonance provides a wide range of control over regeneration and at higher settings adds a more pronounced and resonant tone. The Sweep control governs the peak frequency of the phased signal’s tone, turned full clockwise the sweep is lively and intense, whereas turning counter clockwise yields a darker, more laid back peak. The Depth control blends the shifted signal in with the dry signal and controls the intensity of the effect. The master Rate control fine tunes the speed of the LFO in each of these modes and the flashing red LED acts as a visual indicator, even when the effect is in bypass mode. It has three way toggle switch to select between the ranges of modulation: Rate 1 is slow sweep mode, Rate 2 kills the LFO and allows you to use the Grand Orbiter as a fixed resonant filter and Rate 3 is fast sweep mode. Resonant to slow and mellow and on through fast and swirly. A travellers rest stop pte ltd12/7/2023 ![]() The hotel has a decently sized kitchen on-site for those wanting to cook their own meals in-house (including a stocked spice shelf which we can fully appreciate), ample coffee from local roaster La Prima, a rather large common area nearby to meet fellow guests, and many amenities unique to bikers including storage and repair kits are perfect for those hitting the trails.īut above all else, what really sets Traveler's Rest apart from the rest are the owners– Pittsburgh natives turned travelers who stayed in many uniquely designed around the world and saw a need for a similar spot in their own city (with all the best aspects of their favorite places). I'd expect more noise in general when the hotel is quite busy, especially when shared facilities are involved (its the nature of the game), but the owners put in a lot of effort to insulate the building from noise which I can always appreciate. My private room with shared facilities was fairly quiet throughout the night (however, the property was not busy during my stay), and only at about 7 am did I start to hear a little noise from the industrial spots nearby. Second, there are the rooms. One of my biggest pet peeves is staying in facilities with shared facilities is the comfort level, but the room options here will give some nearby hotels a run for their money for bed comfort. I was invited to the hotel for an overnight stay and wanted to share a bit more about this hidden gem in the South Side. Traveler's Rest is one boutique hotel that opened up in South Side near Station Square and it certainly fills a need! One thing that always bothered me about the Pittsburgh hotel scene is that our budget and boutique hotel offering is much more limited compared to chain offerings. Whenever we need to travel economically, we look toward shared dorms and private rooms in order to meet our travel goals. As such, we have updated the language of this article accordingly.Īs avid travelers, we've done our fair share of overnight stays in hostels and boutique hotels- from $3 hole-in-the-walls in central China to high-end lodge-esque accommodations dedicated to hikers in Patagonia. Now the hotel has overhauled its offering to offer private rooms for various group sizes with shared facilities and is much more in line with a traditional boutique hotel. Best home theater projector under 100012/7/2023 ![]() ![]() Read our full JVC DLA-NZ8 projector review Interestingly the NZ8 currently has no direct competitor, so if you want uncompromising performance, peerless HDR tone mapping, comprehensive features and a high degree of future-proofing performance, this remarkable projector is in a class of its own. The NZ8 is undoubtedly expensive, but the pricing of JVC’s new line-up is intended to reflect the comparative cost of 4K laser projectors from Sony. As a result, this excellent projector builds on JVC’s existing strengths, expanding them in some areas and adding a host of new cutting-edge features in others. This results in brighter images, greater consistency and a longer lifespan without compromising the black levels or increasing the fan noise. The DLA-NZ8 is the latest native 4K projector from the company, and unlike previous lamp-based generations it uses a BLU-Escent laser light source. If you're looking for the best 4K projector possible for a dedicated home theater, and have a budget that lets you reach for the stars, the JVC DLA-NZ8 should be at the top of your list. If you're set on a portable option or a projector you'll only use now and again, take a look at our best outdoor projectors guide instead. To guide you in picking the right 4K projector, we've selected the best models you can buy right now below, throwing in a few that top out at HD resolution to bring you more choice if you're working with a smaller budget.Īnother advantage to the best 4K projectors we've selected below is that, unlike a gigantic 85-inch TV (or even a 65-inch model), they don't take up room and leave a big, empty space when they’re turned off. Over the years, we've reviewed many of the best 4K projectors, from some of the highest-specified models on the market through to the more affordable and high-value ones. Portable projectors are also a fantastic option because they offer even greater flexibility, allowing you to project images as small as 40 inches depending on the space you set it up in. ![]() However, some of the higher-end devices are capable of handling even larger screen sizes and still provide ample amounts of brightness. All of the top 4K projectors in this guide are capable of beaming a much larger image than any of the best TVs (although some models like LG’s G2 OLED are now available in a 97-inch screen size, which means the gap is closing).Ī standard image size when a 4K projector is paired with a projection screen will bring you a huge 100 inches. ![]() These 4K marvels deliver high impact visuals while taking up much less space than a massive TV. The best 4K projectors are still the ultimate way for you to bring an immersive and dramatic home theater experience into your home – or into your backyard. If you're looking for ultimate portability as we head into summer, both the Samsung The Freestyle and Anker Nebula Capsule II are fantastic options for movies on the move.Īl Griffin, Senior Editor, Home Entertainment For a budget-oriented option, the BenQ TK700STi is a solid 4K projector too, especially for gaming. ![]() Epson also has a companion model, the LS11000, that has mostly similar specs but costs a bit less. The Epson Pro Cinema LS12000 remains our top projector choice, bringing you excellent overall image quality at a relatively affordable price. ![]()

Turbotax refund processing service fees12/7/2023 ![]() ![]() With regulation, Goldberg says consumers would have better price information and businesses would be competing on a more level playing field.ĬonsumerAffairs is not a government agency. The solution, he says, is for regulators to set concrete rules that govern fee disclosures and advertised prices so that they are transparent. Right now, Goldberg says “consumer deception is extreme” for live events, airline tickets, hotels, and rental homes. The pressure to hide the true cost of a service, product, or experience may only get more intense in this inflationary environment. But without regulations, very few businesses are going to put themselves at a disadvantage,” Goldberg said. “Furthermore, businesses will say that they want to be transparent and show the all-in price. It’s not surprising that consumers would get angry when they choose a service for what appears to be a low price but wind up paying more because of a fee or two that wasn’t included in the advertised price. “So to maximize conversions, the lower the price they can display, the higher their conversion value will be.” “Businesses know that consumers who are price shopping are looking to compare that upfront price,” Goldberg told ConsumerAffairs. An Airbnb host can also charge a large “cleaning fee” so that they can advertise a lower nightly rate than their competitors. It’s why an airline will advertise a low fare but disclose later that there are fees to check bags. Because of competition, he says businesses often want to advertise the lowest possible price. ‘All-in pricing’īrett Goldberg, the co-founder and co-CEO of TickPick, has been an advocate of “all-in pricing” – which relies on telling consumers the bottom line cost in all advertising. In March, competitor GrubHub was also slapped with a suit by the District of Columbia Attorney General’s office that leveled similar charges. TurboTax is not the only company to trigger complaints about “hidden fees.” Earlier this year, DoorDash found itself as the defendant in a proposed class-action lawsuit alleging that it charged hidden fees during the pandemic. One user pointed out that the fee is mentioned, but they said “it is not crystal clear” what the fee is and what it is for. We’ll simply deduct the $39.99 fee from your federal refund and send the balance to your bank account.” Below the federal refund option, it says, “Don’t worry about pulling out your wallet. TurboTax points out that the page with information about its fees gives users the option to pay with a credit card or pay with their federal refund. But the $39.99 fee to pay the $140 fees is a money grab,” David wrote in his review. I was automatically upgraded to $90 federal fee and $50 state fee. “I just completed my taxes (basic return), refund both state and federal. David, of Hanover, Mass., is one of them. Some customers have said they were not aware of the fee before they selected the option to pay with part of their refund. The point of contention is whether TurboTax is transparent about the refund transfer fee when users electronically file their taxes. “You don't need Refund Processing Service to e-file and process your refund, and refund processing won't slow down or speed up your refund.” How transparent? ![]() It's a convenient way to pay for TurboTax if you don't have (or don't want to use) your credit or debit card,” the company explains on its Help page. “The Refund Processing Service is an option for paying your TurboTax fee by deducting it from your federal tax refund. Customers’ other alternative is to pay with a credit card or debit card. TurboTax, which is owned by Intuit, says it has been upfront about what it calls a “refund transfer fee.” The company allows customers who file their taxes online to have TurboTax’s charges deducted from the refund, but it imposes a charge for doing that. The company, however, disputes claims that the fee is “hidden.” Other users posting on ConsumerAffairs and on other forums like Reddit have also complained about the $40 fee. TurboTax is easy to use, but, in the end, they used me.” “There was a state fee that came out of nowhere at the end that I did not have to pay for last year. “Even though I was using the free version, TurboTax hit me with several surprise fees at the end,” Luke, of Salt Lake City, wrote in a ConsumerAffairs review. Recently, however, some users have objected to what they say is a “hidden fee” – a $40 charge when the customer chooses to pay for the service by using a portion of their federal refund. ![]() Photo (c) LIgorko - Getty Images TurboTax has become one of the dominant do-it-yourself tax preparation platforms, helping taxpayers prepare their federal and state tax returns. ![]()

Cocking a 10 point crossbow12/7/2023 ![]() ![]() What's happening is that the bolt is not seated far enough back to make contact with the string and, more importantly, disengage the anti-dry-fire mechanism (ADF). I've encountered this issue several times with my fishing crossbow, probably because it spends so much time pointed downward.Īll things considered, this is a good problem. However, a far more likely cause is that the bolt is not pushed all the way back, or has slid forward. When cocked and loaded, crossbow fails to fire: It's possible that as in the previous example, the bow was not fully cocked. However, something is not working properly, and I would advise taking the bow to your local pro shop or contacting the manufacturer or place of purchase about possible repair or replacement. One solution is to simply click the safety on after cocking and continue as usual. Safety did not engage while cocking, but crossbow will fire: It shouldn't happen, but I've encountered this on bows from several different manufacturers. You should be able to simply re-attach your cocking mechanism and pull back farther, until you hear a distinct "click" and see that the safety has engaged. In other words, the string wasn't pulled all the way back, far enough to cock the bow and engage the safety mechanism. Safety did not engage while cocking, and crossbow will not fire: In all likelihood, the bow was short-cocked. In that case, make sure you are pulling the string all the way back. That used to be necessary on some crossbows, but for the most part, it no longer matters whether the safety is on safe or fire when cocking. Common ProblemsĬrossbow will not cock: This is less common than it used to be but could well be the result of not having the safety mechanism in the "fire" position while cocking. Below, I've listed five of the more common issues crossbow shooters might encounter, along with their causes and solutions. Regardless, sometimes our crossbows don't perform as well as we'd like. Sometimes, it's a matter of materials or manufacturing. ![]()
